More Poser questions: copying frames; interpolation; jerkiness

I have a few more Poser questions; forgive me for starting a second thread.

1. I can't for the life of me copy a keyframe. The manual says to select the frame, alt-drag, then paste. I try that, I try copy-paste, nothing works.

2. I know that frame 1 has to be the default pose, and will be discarded by SL. Can frame 2 be completely different?

3. I'm having trouble with my first few frames. Frame 1 is the default pose; Frame 10 is my first pose. The interpolated frames 2-9 are a mess of twisted body parts. I cant delete them or get rid of them. I tried re-iterpolating them, but I'm not sure how to do this. Should I just edit each manually?

4. Every 3-4 seconds the animation pauses for a moment, producing a jerky effect. I'm not sure if this happens at keyframes or not, my keyframes occur every second typically. I try to walk thru to see the problem, and I cant see anything wrong. Is it just my graphics card choking?

1. To copy any frame, key or not, click your little key symbol in the bottom right. Select your frame. Control + C. Select where you want to put it. Then Control + V.

2. Yes you second frame can be as different as you like to the first.

3. Try inserting Breaks in all your key frames.

4. Try inserting Breaks in all your key frames. (will probably fix this too ^^)

for some reason copy paste (at least in poser 5) does not copy/paste the twist elements for the Avatar in some of it's elements specifically arms... double check that

other than that... control C and control V

good luck

Hi Ricky, I try to answer your questions.

1. Read this article about copying keyframes.

2. Yes. But if you don't break spline, you'll get the trouble such as question #3.

3. At first, you have to make 2nd frame. And break spline of the keyframes on the second frame. See this if you want to know how to do it.

4. I guess your animations are overrided by the default animation. Unless you set keyframes on some of your avatar's body parts, non setting keyframes' body parts are set the lowest priority. You have to set keyframes on all parts that you don't want the default animation to override. If you just don't move them, see this article.

Hope these help you.

Thanks for the very helpful replies. I knew my odd first few frames had something to do with spline/interpolation, but I didn't know how to fix it. I'll give that a try, Seagal. Thanks.

As for the hiccups in playback, I see them if anything more in Poser than in SL. It may just be that Poser renders them less smoothly? Dunno.

What about changing the preview rendering mode where it is an attached picture below. If you sitll see the hiccups in the box rendering mode, I don't think it is because of your graphic card. BTW, what are you using your graphic card, anyway?
If you can't configure out it at all, upload your hiccup animation, a pz3 file here. Seeing is the fastest solution. Don't forget to zip it before uploading it here.

Breaking spline seems to have removed the hiccups. Thanks!

Also, I've found I can CTL-C and paste a particular cell easily enough. But if I shift-select several cells, CTL-C, and then try to paste elsewhere, only the first one seems to get pasted. Can one cut and paste, say, both the forearm and hand? Or the hand only?

Yeah, everybody told you Ctrl-C thingy on this thread. ;)
If you select and copy multiple keyframes horizontally, all of them should be pasted. When you paste them by Ctrl-V, you have to select the copy-to cell that should be the earliest time within the range.
You can select them vertically, that is, you can copy or cut and paste a hand and an arm all at once, too. <Edit> But when you paste them by Ctrl-V, you have to select the same range of copy-to cells in this case.
