I created an animation in poser 6 using one of the poser 2 figures, "the animation is swinging an ax" I used the t pose for the first frame and broke the spline on frame #2 and made the animation starting from frame #2. When uploaded to sl it all works well except for the feet moving, it looks as if the feet are moving instead of the hips. I left the inverse kinetics on while making the animation and just shifted the hips sideways while making a swinging motion with the upper body. In sl it looks as if my avitar is not getting traction and his feet are sliding out. If anyone knows whats going wrong and can explain how to fix it please help.

thanks max,

I opened the file in avimator and had the same effect as the upload to sl. If anyone has any ideas what the problem may be please let me know.

Since the hips are the center of gravity/movement, shifting the hips shifts everything. To counteract that, get the hip position where you want it, but adjust the feet and legs to so that feet are where they were originally.

The effect: If the initial frame has the knees bent slightly and feet at shoulder width, the hips can slide horizontally. The hip shifts left when the left leg goes more vertical and bends more and the right leg straightens but bends less.

when I made this animation I had inverse kinetics on so the feet did not move in poser. They just move when I upload to sl. Could it be something to do with the inverse kinetics feature in poser 6?

thanks for the reply,

inverted kinetick is just a tool in poser to make the creation easier. it will not have effect on SL though normally should make your feet not moving

well i have the same issue. i try to make an animation with a shift of balance from leg to leg. when doing it first i had it on poser correct, on Sl i had th elegs going crazy so i did as you adviced. shutting down all kinetic i kept the hips i copyed the beginign hips through all frames as a result the the legs are less moving yes, but one is still acting frantically and the hips does not move at all.
any idea?

Is the legg going crazy in poser? sometimes that happens to me when I use inverse kinetics and then turn it off. The only way I have found to fix it is to revert to a previous save, (I always save before turning inverse kinetics off anymore) or using the graph I adjust the movements of the offending joint.

Thats the hip bug. It doesn't happen every time, nor often. But often enough to be EXTREMLY annoying. According to Torley there isn't anyone working on this issue at LL, but they know all about it. If you could, please sent the animation to Torley with a note stating what you find going on say it's the hip bug. File a bug report too but these tend to be useless with regards to animations. The more people who complain about this bug, the more likely they will fix it.

To the OP:
Turn off IK. While at first it may seem to be helpful, the way it twists and turns the legs and feet isn't worth the time it takes to fix them. With SL, there is always a bit of feet drag if the hips are moving but the legs are not. It should only be just a little bit tho, if you are experiencing more oddities like the limbs and/or torso are moving when they shouldn't and the hips stay still, you might just have that nasty hip bug also. I wouldn't be surpized if the little bug is now a bigger bug again. *sigh*

I made a headbanging animation where the avatar gets down on one knee and starts to headbang. It usually works fine except one night the hip would stay in the air and the feet would come up to it. It happened with my avatar and another that I gave it to to help me test it. The next day it was working fine again. Maybe just a temporary bug from all the updates lately?
