I am a newbie first of all and I've been muddling through pretty well but today I bought a walking animation that I like and I can put it on my avatar but she just walks in place. Can I use this walk as I would the one I had when I joined SL, to walk from place to place? What am I missing? Thanks!

You need to put the animation in an animation overrider (AO). This is usually a Head Up Display (HUD) that you attach to your screen but an AO can be just about any scripted object worn by your avatar.
The typical AO will also animate your avatar with standing, running, flying, swimming and sitting animations of your choice. You can pick up a free copy of the ZHAO-II AO here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Winged%20Isle/128/175/36. There's a teleport link on the board that will take you to the distribution point. Full instructions are included with the package, as far as I recall. This may seem technically demanding to begin with but it's really quite easy once you understand the basic concepts. Also it's best you get the hang of setting up your own AO sooner rather than later - especially if you like to mix and match animations yourself. |
