I have been successfully using QAvimator/Slat/DAZ3d for creation of animations. I have opportunity to pickup a used license of Poser. Ihave never used poser, but the price is fractional so I am considering it. Issue is I have opporunity to get 4, 5, 6 or 7 each with a comperably price.

Other than get thelatest and greatest... are there any other recomendations as to version? I will only be using this for SL.

I use 4, and some people say I do pretty good work. Long story short, the newer versions aren't adding anything useful for SL, they have features for pre-rendered stuff. If there's a significant difference in price, I'd say get the cheapest. If they're all about the same cost (where are you getting it from?) then get the latest.

Am I going to find any benefit to Poser 4 over something like DAZ or the combination of DAZ and QAVimator? Someoen has suggested that they were actually related Daz Studio and Poser 4 ... somehow.

I know little about Daz, but I highly doubt a combination of Daz and Qavimator will gain you anything over using either tool by itself.

As far as making sl animations... the answer is no. If you want to create animations or stills to use else where then yes... Poser has much more to offer than D/S. D/S is about the same as Poser ProPack in terms of what it has to offer.

I've used Poser since version 2... the SL figures are very close to the original Poser 2 figures. SL is big let down from using the more advanced figures, but it's what we have to work with at the present time.
