When making an animation for jumping, do you need to move the hips as well, or should you leave the hips stationary?
For example, if my hips are at point 0.0.0 with it being x,y,z respectively, do I need to move the hips to 0,48,16 to make it look like it's jumping, or does SL do this for you automatically? And is there a jump limit when you do animations? Such as, you can't go beyond point 0,99,99?
Thank you in advance for the help.

Thank you in advance for the help. Personally I do move the hips to make a "jump" anim even when not actually jumping. I've noticed a higher clearance than the regular jump. Also if standing still and not jumping it still plays what looks like a jump. Aside from that, I've never tried to hit the max. So that I don't know.

I am unsure if you intend to use the jump animation for when you are really jumping or just want your an animation to include a jump. When we run animations in SL, the animation itself does not change the real location our avatars. You could play your own uploaded animation that shows you running 10m away, but according to where SL thinks you really are, you're still right where you were standing when you started unless you have hit directional keys to really move your avatar's placement.
So for jumping, if you just want the appearance of jumping in an animation, yes, you definately have to move the figure upwards during the jump when creating the animation.
If this is an animation you're going to trigger specifically when you are really jumping (ie.. hitting the page up key on your keyboard.. going to use it to make a gesture for jumping?), then it isn't necessary to move the figure up during the animation creation unless you want to appear to be jumping higher than a normal SL jump.

Thanks! I'm making an animation for when I issue my avatar to jump. Sorry I wasn't so clear on that.
It's for an avatar that a normal jump wouldn't work for. :3
