I know you can easily trigger gestures with keyboard shortcuts (ie, F2) and by typing commands in the chat text box (ie, /wave).
Is there an easier way to run animations than through Inventory? Can you trigger animations with keyboard shortcuts and chat commands?

Am I reading this wrong, or did you answer your own question before you asked it?
Your Q: "Can you trigger animations with keyboard shortcuts and chat commands?"
Your A: "I know you can easily trigger gestures with keyboard shortcuts (ie, F2) and by typing commands in the chat text box (ie, /wave)."
Did you mean something else? You can trigger animations several different ways from the ways you listed above. (IE, Sitting on an object. Mouse click's. Page UP/DOWN. Or even set an animation to run at a timed interval provided you have permission to trigger animations in a running script to begin with)
(Paused, re-read what you wrote for the 3rd time lol)
Okay. I see the subtle difference in what you're saying now.
If the confusion here is just in terminology (gesture vs. animation). They're basically one in the same, more or less.
- You can use Gestures to run animations (though you can run a gesture without an animation - for example, if you just want to have a F button to auto say stuff you use repeatedly [IE "LOL"] without any animation running).
OR
- Animations can be triggered independantly and not have anything to do with a gesture. (Like I mentioned above, using scripts in objects [which can be triggered with chat output or various other ways]).
Sorry. Hope I'm not confusing you more. Feel free to clarify your question or ask more about this.
