I'm new to SL and have been interested in animations. Thanks to Ulrika's tutorial and Chip's keyframes explanation, I was able to create and upload my first animation this weekend. I think it's great that you both contributed your time and talent to help us with animations.

Though my first amination was simple, my second one was more complicated and is doing some funky twisting at the elbow. I've been reading through this discussion forum and have some ideas to fix this. Thanks again to everyone who participates.

Glad you found it useful, Pietro :) Welcome to SL and congrats on making your first animation!

To fix your twisting problem you'll want to go into the function curve editor and check the curve between your keyframes. You'll probably need to add another key or two to keep the curve from overshooting the key. Poser automatically smooths the function curve to keep your animation from looking robotic but this can sometimes cause kinks or bulges in the curve and annoying things happen. The attached image shows an example of this. The left image represents an animation with four keys. The arm is supposed to raise to a specific height and then stay there for a while before moving back down. Because of smoothing the arm bends up much higher than it's supposed to traveling an arc instead of holding steady. The right image shows how it's fixed by adding two additonal keys.

Thanks for the advice, Chip. The attached image was especially useful for understanding these kind of problems.
