Does anyone know of a free program to make a pose in which you can manipulate the fingers?

There are currently no joints in the fingers for animation uploads to influence, so you are stuck with the default hand position settings offered in the upload dialog.
It would be awesome if LL opened up animations to include fingers and morphs, but I haven't heard anything regarding any of that opening up to developer access. |

Well fudge. I've seen someone making the peace sign and such, how do you think they did that? With some uber expensive program?

no, there are a few built in hand poses. you can choose which one is put with the animation at the time you upload. but due to some persistent SL issues, it's not guaranteed the hand pose will even work.

The peace sign is one of the default hand positions you can choose when uploading an animation into SL. You can choose from a selection of simple defaults, like, fist, point, type, spread, relaxed - but there is an outstanding issue with them - as Darien has posted. _____________________

There are more joints in the fingers than there are in the rest of the body, so I don't think they'll ever give us fine control over them. It would increase the size of the animation files significantly.

Is it also possible that SL's avatar animation standards are as outdated as the mesh?

It would increase the size of the animation files significantly. They are working on a 200 bone skeleton for the avatar with scripted control of joints. Just wait til that comes... ![]() http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Puppeteering http://www.avatarpuppeteering.com/ _____________________

It's hibernated through a few winters. most of that Wiki future release stuff is from a puppeteer demo done in 2006.
