Can someone post a guide on how to do this or a link to any known info on how it works.

It's pretty simple really. Create your animation in Poser. Export from Poser as BVH (file: export: bvh motion file).

In SL, go to file: upload animation. Once you select your bvh file a preview will pop up allowing you to see the animation with a default SL avatar. This is handy since arm rotations and other things tend to be a bit different between SL and Poser. You can also set the animation to be looping, and where the loop points are.

In order to create a BVH that SL can understand you need to make sure there are no keyframes for fingers, toes, buttocks, eyes, and genital in the 2nd frame or beyond. If any of those tracks have keys in them then SL will refuse to load the BVH with a message saying the animation must have at least two frames.

I will add a couple things. You can avoid the finger, etc. issue by loading a figure from Poser 2 as they are pretty much equivalent to SL in terms of structure.

Also note, SL doesn't use the first frame of animation, it's a reference frame to orient the model in terms of the animation. I usually stick a default frame there, though it doesn't actually matter.

One more thing, when you're exporting from Poser, make sure you select scale automatically.

Does the latest version of Poser come with a Poser2 figure?
If not are they downloadable?

Yes, Poser 5 comes with Poser 2 Figures. Check your Figure library in the bar thingie on the far right side of the screen in Poser.

i'm using poser 5 and i've made and uploaded some animations just fine but every now and then I try and upload on and it just doesn't work. nothing moves how it does in poser. What am I doing wrong? I have a guy do this nice little animation in poser, export, go to upload into SL and it plays about 5 frams of something I didn't make. just a crappy litttle movement.

Hmm. I think it might have something to do with the numbers in your first name. :P

Yup that was it. Those darn numbers. Only weirdo's use numbers in their names and well, that screws things up.
