Hello! This maybe an old an alreddy ansawed question, but I can“t find any usefull tips to get me started, so here we go (again?).
Does anyone know how to get started doing animations? What is the best way to attack the problem of being totally unexperienced in this subjekt?
My ultimate goal is to be able to make animations for two avatars connected, fx. one lifting the other and so on.
Please help me by pointing a direction to follow, a program to use or anything else that could get me going.
Best regards Marlinn Mayo

Just read down some of the threads. There are freeware programs that you can use to create animations for SL. I can't list them off the top of my head, because I use Poser and then import. But the way to start is to download one of those freeware programs and play with it a while until you figure out how it works.
There are actually a few tools in-game that help with making animations too (again, I can't think of them off the top of my head since I don't use them, but I've seen them mentioned in this forum). They cost money though (via Lindens), so you may be better off starting with the freeware first before putting money down on something else.

Also read the sticky posts on top. Try downloading some programs and try making a few animations and importing them into SL. I'd start with just a pose, since that involves only two frames, then work your way up to animating a single avatar, and then animating two together which involves scripting.

Just 5-6 posts down from this is an extensive writeup on animations that I put together called "Animations Unravelled and explained" by Valradica Vanek. It is several pages of details on everyting I know about this after doing many many animations. Check it out and start there.
