This might sound silly but I wanted to make sure I got all the answers before 'investin''...

What's the best program to create animation an' poses for SL? I tried poser 6 demo an' am phantomin' gettin' poser 7, but I am not sure if they are the best for SL. Can someone help me ? =D

I don't know enough to make any informed statement about which is the best, but in any case all versions of Poser that I've seen are capable of doing a lot more than you can use for SL. So I don't think the investment is really worthwhile ... it's just overkill.

Having said that, Poser also makes the things you CAN use for SL a lot easier than the freebie programs like Qavimator, for example. But to benefit from that, you really don't need all the latest features. That's why I got myself an older Poser version (4) at a bargain price (around 50$) and I'm quite happy with that.

I use poser 4 and for SL stuff it's as good as the new ones. If you can't find a used copy, they still sell poser 4 under the name poser artist on the web site. Then again, if you also want to make your own animated movies and stuff the new versions have tons of features to make that look better. Poser 4 renders look like SL but with shadows.

I have Poser 6 but I'm using the Poser 2 or 4 avatars.

Once in a great while, hell becomes really cold. And during that time Content Paradise gives away an old version of Poser. You just have to keep on the lookout for it because once it starts people slam the servers. As long as you have an account and can get it into your account, you can download it later if the servers are full. It's also a small window. So it won't hurt to keep checking out that site to see if there is a 'giveaway' going on.

Last time I saw them giveaway like that it was a free full version of Poser 5 was (I believe) right before they allowed Poser 7 Pre-Orders.

Any version of Poser will work because you can always use the older Poser figures. Keep on the lookout to see if CP tosses out an offer like they did with P5. Other than that, you can always grab a cheaper older version.

They work fine too. :)

I've just got Poser 5. Why do I need to use the older poser figures? And where can I get them?

Edit: Whoops! Sorry, worked it out for myself. Duh! :(

Avimator is the best I've found

avimator seems to work best for me and it doesn't seem to skew with differing avitar heights.

Why an older figure? SL doesn't have all the bones in some of the newer figures. :)
