Avatars Won't Fall All the Way Down!

Hi,

I'm having a little trouble with my Poser animations and it's getting extremely frustrating. When one of the avatars is supposed to fall all the way to the ground, and it looks perfect in Poser.. when I put it into SL they fall down but the "ground" they fall flat on is about a half meter in the air.

Any reason for this? I need my avatars to fall to the ground, not float in the air, and I cant seem to figure out how to make this look right.

Hello Lorenzo,

Did you make waist pivot move to on the ground?
That means you should make its waist pivot move to around -2.5 in Z position.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're asking. Do I set this in SL or in Poser? The animation has the person start standing up and fall to the ground. but the avatar never actually hits the ground, even though he is on the ground in Poser..

What do I do?

EDIT: Okay, I tried this and I suppose it works, but when an av moves to -2.5 in poser he's not even on the screen anymore. Poser has the CRAPPIEST camera control ever.. how do I make it so he's visible in Poser when down to the ground?

Also, that seems like an awful long way to have to fall to hit the ground considering they have to fall about 3 meters below their feet to hit the ground :-/

Hi Lorenzo,

There is a different hierarchy between Poser and BVH.
CODE
Poser
Avatar-Waist-Belly-Breast-....
    -Upper Right Leg-....
    -Upper Left Leg-....

BVH
Waist-Belly-Breast-....
-Upper Right Leg-....
-Upper Left Leg-....

You made your avatar move by Avatar pivot first, and its position must have been the offset on BVH. You should delete all Avatar keyframes on Poser and let it only move by under Waist pivot. And camera positon would also has nothing to do with BVH, so you can delete any camera keyframes if you need.

I'm not sure wheather Poser parameter's unit is meter. I guess it is feet. 2.5 feet of legs' length is shorter than mine though. ;)

So in other words to do this properly I need to move the parts of the body individually instead of draggint he whole avatar around?

My solution to problems translating poser to SL: Over compensate! If falling to the ground isn't low enough, fall under the ground in poser!

Just drag and rotate the waist pivot which has all parts follow because of its hierarchy when you want to move the whole avatar. The information of the whole avatar which is called "Body" or "Figuer 1"? (Sorry, my poser is localized and I don't know what to be called exactly on your Poser) will be lost when you export it to BVH file.

Yes, exactly. Poser's scene space is just a reference. It depends on your avatar's size and attachments.
