I have built a walk anim using the Linden walk anim as a base, and using Qavimator. In this walk, I edited the right and left collars and arms so they are bent up holding a tray. The anim looks very good when I play it it QAV. However, when I upload it as a BVH to SL, the left arm is hanging down low, not in the correct position to support the tray. Any ideas why this might be, and how I might fix it?
Cheers

For things like holding a purse, waving a flag, etc., it's usually easiest to have a partial anim affecting just that limb, set to high priority so it overrides everything else, and use an on-attach animation script.
There's a thing that happens when the anim shifts to another anim, leaving a partial state in some circumstances. And also a "last anim" thing where an anim may not take hold unless it's the last one played.
I think I'd make a tray-holding-arm anim then put it in the tray with an on attach animation script so the avatar attaching the tray goes into the right anim, which will work at a walk, stand, or run, etc.

Thanks for that. I've not actually got any other anims running, BUT, the arm hanging low is even visible in the preview of the anim that you get as it is uploaded. I'm trying for the life of me to understand why it would display one way in QAV and yet be different at upload.

Well, there would be other anims running unless you are stopping every single one. Check Animation Info in the debug menu under Character. Just walking with no ao I have 8 SL anims running at low priority that do things like simulate breathing. That might well not help you a bit, but it's more information, anyway

Thanks...I've looked at the JIRAs and that may be the issue. I reiterate that whether or not I have defualt anims running isn't the issue, as the hanging arm appears on the preview BEFORE I even upload the anim to SL.

I found the solution. It was simply that the arm hadn't moved between frame 1 and 2 and so was not picked up by SL to be animated.
