I just upgraded fron Poser 5 to Poser 7 and have a problem with some animations. In the new version of Poser whenever I export my animation to a BVH file, Poser turns all my frames inbetween the keyframes into keyframes themselves on the animation pallete and I cannot figure out why. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.

hey tristan,
I have this problem too. my solution has been this - save your animation, then save it again under a slightly different name. (Animation1 and then save as Animation1x).
Then export the .bvh. Yes, Animation1x will fill in all the key frames, and be useless to come back to for changes. However, you will have Animation1 to work from, just open it up and make adjustments.
Of course, you have to do this every single time you plan on exporting a .bvh.

Oh, very cool. Good to hear.
So now that you have that resolved, I am dying to know whether you feel like 7 is a worthwhile upgrade from 5. I have Poser 5, and frankly I am not all that enamored of it. I am curious to see whether 7 can change my mind.

Well Poser 7 has animation layers which I am completely clueless about right now and I do not know if that can even be used for SL yet. Other than that I really see no advantage to having Poser 7 if all you are doing is animations for SL. Perhaps someone else who is a bit more experienced with the program may have an opinion on this. I do sorta question why I upgraded. Guess I just like to have the new stuff even if it is useless for my purposes. hehe.

But even though I have a very very limited use for it, if it had better tools for making the animation easier it would be worth considering.

I want affordable motion capture!

The easiest way to deal with this, is to save your pz3 before exporting the bvh file P7 will create all the keyframes and instead of saving the file just reopen it and it will be like it was the last time you saved.
It's easier than saving to a different name and uses less disk space too. I also seldom use Revert... it does cause occasional crashes. This is something that I ran into during beta testing and was never addressed in the final release that I know of.
In case you don't know, SR1 for Poser 7 has been released and it does deal with some of the problems.

The .bvh format, as I understand it, does not recognize the concept of key frames. Poser 7 cannot export key frames to .bvh. It's not a bug or a problem; it's just a result of differening file formats.

It's not a bug or a problem; it's just a result of differening file formats. The problem was that before the patch was applied, P7 was turning the active .pz3 file's tween frames into keyframes everytime you exported it in .bvh making the current .pz3 useless. If that made sense. It's all fixed now anyway.

Okay, I understand what you're saying. I actually think I did run into that once, but usually I save the pose file before exporting to .bvh and not after, so I usually didn't get that.
