Is the movement forward and backward etc controlled in the bvh file or by and outside script - (eg. If I had a 'Silly Walks' animation can I embed the walk character forward 1 metre into the .bvh file or does the bvh file only contain the character's walking motions and a separate script is needed to move them forward by 1 metre).

I'm using DAZ Studio and getting some great result using the Victoria 3 figure but haven't delved into the forward backward movements as yet.

For a walk override you only need the walk animation, not any actual movement. The victoria 3 figure will not translate into SL, the joints and bones are all wrong, you want to use the SL avatar figures available off the downloads page.

Thanks for that - but I'm not specifically dealing with walking (that was only an example and possibly a poor one) Lets say dance where the character has to move about the floor is a set pattern.

The poses I've done with Victoria 3 so far are reasonably good but they are not animations as such so I'll take your advice about downloading the SL mannikin

Yes Tarak, you can move the avatar laterally and vertically by moving (as opposed to rotatint) the hip, though I'm not sure how far you can move it. In Poser you need to be careful to erase the "body" sections as SL only references the hip itself (not sure about Daz Studio). Also you will have to play around with the timing of movements to avoid having the feet slide around on the ground, unless of course that's what you want.
