Synchronizing Two Animations

I am not sure if this question belongs here, or in a scripting forum.

Assuming you have two looped animations, for example the male and female parts of a couples dance, how would one synchronize these two animations? To be very specific, suppose you had each animation in a standard poseball. When an avatar sits, the animation would generally begin at that moment, meaning each avatar could begin the animation at a different time. What is the best practice for delaying the second avatar's animation until it can sync with the first?

I am not sure if I am making sense, so feel free to slap me if I sound loony.

That is a scritpting thing. According to Evil Fool's Simple Prim Dance Machine, animations are fired for some fixed time period and change or loop. It keeps track of who is doing what and seems to match the starting timing.

Thank you Seagel. I will study that script and see if there is a solution there.
