Hi, I'm crossposting this here, as the animation forum wasn't up when I made this tutorial. I've put together a quick and dirty tutorial for how to use Animation Master to create Second Life animations. See: Little Tigerey's AM to SL tutorial Have fun, Little Tigereye

It's a $299 animation software from Hash inc (no it has nothing to do with drugs, that's the actualy name of the company, the guy who owns it is called Martin Hash). Their website seems to be down as I post this, check the link again later and it should be back up. The solution is more for those of us that own Animation Master now, and want to use it with SL...as I don't expect too many people will be willing to spend $299 just to create SL animations. Now if only CharacterFX supported BVH, we could have SL animation for the masses. Little

Don't forget about blender. It supports bvh output and is free. I imagine we're only waiting around for a conversion script written in perl.

That's true. Haven't had a look at Blender for a while. Last time I checked it had an interface that was just plain weird, but maybe that has improved since then. I figured CharacterFX would be easier to use for most "normal" SL players (i.e. those that haven't used other 3D apps a lot).
Conversion script? If it supports .bvh export, I guess you would only need to build a skeleton identical to the one used in SL, animate it and export it to .bvh. Shouldn't be too big of a deal.
Cheers,
Ragnar

I finished a conversion script! Give it a try and let us know if it works. If it doesn't, post the bvh file here and I'll write a script that does work. The generic conversion script that is verified to work for blender can be found here. It might work with Animation master without modification. ~Ulrika~
