I am working on a Captain Hook avatar and would like to replace one of his calves and feet with a peg leg (prim). In Poser, the scale dial does a wonderful job of eliminating body parts simply by scaling them down to zero. However, when you do this and import the BVH file into SL, SL apparently has no idea what that scaling dial does as the scaled-down limb is, indeed, there, in all it's glory.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to achive my goal?

Thanking you in advance...

What about wearing an object with a pegleg texture? There's a good thread floating around here about an invisible prim. Someone probably has the link bookmarked for you.

Thank you for the reply! I *have* tried the invisible prim and, for the most part, it works okay. It's just that, when you move your cam so that you eye-level with the prim in question, you are magically able to see through walls, doors, etc... that are situated behind whatever it is that is wearing the invisible prim.

Correct! Invisible Prims, or "Invisi-Prims" are used alot in building & removing/hiding parts of Avatars. There is a shop in Lusk where one can pick up the freebie Invisi-Prim Script.

I'll send you the Invisi-Prim script when I get in-world too.

There's a slight catch to Invisi-prims though- they tend to also make certain things behind them invisible as well: water, clouds, etc.

Also, BVH files dont hold the Scale information from Poser. All they contain are the Joint Rotations.

Another trick that has been used often would be to fold the lower limb up inside the thigh which should be large enough to contain it. Thus, no lower leg.

I'm sure the next phase will be people wanting virtual amputee sex; get ready for it.
