Animations inside SL?

I have been doing animations in Qavimator and Avimator for a while, but was wondering... is there some simple animation creator inside of SL? something where one can set a simple pose to a specific device or mechanism and get the basic dimensions for developing a real animation.

For example, a steering wheel on a ship and you want the hands to be in the right place. so instead of guessing and then adjusting outside of SL, you simple set it up in SL and capture measurements. Any clues or thoughts.

Unless the wheel position is very specific, it's easier to adjust the wheel to fit the hands than adjust the hands to fit the wheel. So like animate with a prop wheel approximately where you would want it, then in SL move the wheel to fit the hands in the animation.
