Quick question on animation

Hi folks, I've made a Mech that has parts that attach to Heero's body, and they all move great. The problem is that the legs go underneath the ground. I was told I would need to animate my avatar to make him appear a few meters above the ground? Here's a picture of my mech's legs attached to me while I stand on the ground. Then I flew into the air to show how high I need to make my character somehow. Can someone tell me what I might need to do to have my avatar standing normally but at that height?

I'm not sure at all, as I don't dabble in animations and am pretty new to prim attachments, but have you tried setting the legs as Physics? I do that with shoes, and it seems to work, as they don't sink into the ground. Of course, given the legs you show on your pics, I wouldn't have any idea if it works the same when you attach them to, say, hips or thighs, but it can be worth a try. (And make a copy of them first... physics-enabled prims have a nasty habit to go wandering around when they're unlinked, making them a pain to reattach; also you can't use prims that interpenetrate themselves this way - I think).
