I'm having occasional issues with opening Qavimator files via double-click. Sometimes they take as much as 45 seconds to open. Qavimator will itself open instantly from my start menu and so will the files if I open them from within the program.
The issue isn't frequent and usually it won't apply to all of my Qavimator files. This morning, however, I found that none of the files will open on double-click despite restarting Windows and despite the fact that I have run no other programs apart from Firefox since I started work today.
I'm using a fairly clean installation of Windows XP SP3, which was installed on a new system only a few weeks ago. In case they're relevant, the basic specs are:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz 2.99 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

the only remotely relevant sugestion i can think of is that the association for the fileTYPE somehow was lost.. (heyyy its windows no big deal..:) Try rightclicking a file and re-asociate the type to your aqvi executable Its however not a given thing. i have lost association of filetypes where windows just wont show the executeable on the association list (programFiles) any more. But good luck with re-association of your qavi BR ab

Thanks Abraxes but I tried that already and unfortunately it makes no difference. Windows has no trouble finding and listing the exe under available programs but I still browsed to it again just to be on the safe side.
It's the damnedest thing because, like I said, I have no trouble opening files from within the program. The trouble is I need to use double-click because I have an range of similar versions stored in a document tree and it is too easy to confuse files as I negotiate them with the save dialog.
I haven't seen this happen with other software on Windows so I wonder is it a glitch in the program? If I could find fault with Qavimator it would be that it seems to be permanently stuck in some beta version that needs a good debugging.

The only solution I could find was to regenerate the files by cutting and pasting the keyframes from the old document into a new one. It's a pain in the neck but it works. The new version opens in a flash.
I'm pretty sure the issue is with the Qavimator software itself as opposed to some dumbass Windows thing: I compared an old file with a new version in UltraEdit and they are exactly the same, line for line.
But thanks again for the suggestion.
