typing and head turning

I have a minor problem with the typing animation activating while posed. I don't want to completely override it, but what's happening is the character is leaning back too far to type.

What part of the body needs to be overridden to keep my character from leaning back so far when they type?

Also, since I'm making a post anyways,
How do I go about ensuring the character can still 'look around' while being animated?

I'm using Poser 5. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Domneth,

Sounds like you need to do a couple of things on the typing movement issue.

1) Animations uploaded at priority 3 or higher will override the typing animation.
It sounds like you're probably sitting on a poseball and the typing animation is overriding your upper body and causing you to lean back. If you're sure you've moved all those body parts on frame 2 at least a little bit, then I would try uploading at pri-3 and see if it helps. Some people will say use priority 4.
Sure.. that works too but it's over kill depending on what type of animation you're trying to override. Check here for a list of the built in animations and their priority.

2) Free look-
Delete the key frames for the head and neck on frame 2 and across the timeline if your animation is longer than 2 frames.

However; when you type, the head and neck will move even if you upload the animation at priority 4 if you don't have any key frames on the time line for the head and neck. Some animations you might create, like laying down, won't look good with the head and neck frames removed so experiment and see what works best for the animation.

Hope this helps,

Zach

Stomach and chest.
If you want the typing animation to be displayed without leaning back, just rotate stomach and chest slightly and leave neck, head and all arm joints in the default pose. The unlocked head and neck will also enable the avatar to look around.

PS: in some postures (like lying on the back) you might want to lock the neck and only keep the head unlocked. Otherwise the chin can sink into the chest when looking toward the avi's feet.

Thanks for the help guys. I really prefer photoshop, but I've found it a necessity lately to make animations with my own name on them.

I needed to resurrect this thread.

I've gotten alot better with poser, but still having issues with the leaning back while typing animation.

For head movement, I just make sure that my frame 2 head is the same as my default, and there's no problem.

However, even with the stomach and chest rotated, my avie still leans back when typing for some of my animations (not all..most of my 'sit' poses are fine since there isn't much movement between frames, it's things like crouching or hunched over I have trouble with..specifically looking more comfortable on a couch) and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Any possibility someone may have some light to shed on this?

Edit: I should add that I don't wish to totally override the typing animation, I simply want to override the leaning back problem.
