I have a walking animation - sexy walk, and another sexy walk (slow). Both work by wearing them, and a hud appears offering play local and play in world options. However, I have to start and stop them each time I start/stop walking!! Is there a way to have them apply to ANY time I walk?

You need an animation overide also called an ao. There is a free one called ZHAO. It sounds like you are looking at the little window that plays your animation. This is not a HUD, but is simply part of the viewer interface. A true HUD would be programmed to stop and start the animation automatically.

Hi Sylvia.
Thanks for that. Someone else also suggested the ZHAO and I got it. However, it seems awfully complicated! Maybe I need a better animation which includes the HUD?

Look down the threads on this forum Keava - there are links to some excellent tutorials for ZHAO - like everything, it is not so complicated once you know how.

ZHAO How?

Ok...I have ZHAO. Following instructions. But can't get it to play the walk animation I have in inventory. It's called Walk: Sexy Slow. It was a freebie. I've moved it into the ZHAO folder. I've entered the name into the note in ZHAO. But nothing happens. The ZHAO Hud works and appears, and when I select walk, I'm offered walks 1 thru 6. But none of them operate the Sexy Slow walk. I've tried naming it different things - is the name the same name that appears if I select properties for the walk?
Used to think I was good with this kind of stuff....now banging head on wall!!!! Ouch!

Keava, if you want something simpler I have a couple of walk AO's that all you have to do is wear them. Send me an IM in world if you want me to send to you.

Keava, get the ZHAO II (it's free in Ziggy Puff's shop). (You can tell the difference because the original ZHAO has about four or five rectangular buttons on the HUD display, while the ZHAO II has only two little circular ones).

The ZHAO II has one important feature that the original lacks: It will tell you if you have written the notecard using the correct syntax. Aside from that, if you have entered the name of the animation EXACTLY on the notecard, and you have loaded the notecard and the animation into the Contents folder of the ZHAO object, it should work OK. In your case, the name is "Walk: Sexy Slow"...the name that appears in your inventory for that animation.

When you first use the ZHAO (I or II), one of the menu options is "Load". This tells the thing which notecard you want it to use. You must perform this step, or the AO won't work. You should need to do this only once, though, unless you later want to switch notecards.

(By the way...if that walk is the one I think it is, it's annoyingly sloooowww. You may want to look around for another walk.)

I've moved it into the ZHAO folder.

The animation needs to be inside the ZHAO's *inventory*, not just in the same folder as the ZHAO. Maybe that's what you did and you just said "folder" when you meant "inventory"?

You need to:

* Rez the ZHAO on the ground from your av's inventory
* Edit it, go to its contents
* Put the animation *inside* the ZHAO's inventory
* Edit the notecard that's also inside the ZHAO, not the notecard that's in the same folder as the ZHAO
* Then you need to take the ZHAO back into your av's inventory
* Wear it
* Give it the command to re-load the notecard

Did you do every one of those steps, in that sequence?

As Lindal said, pick up a ZHAO-II (landmark in my profile picks), it's easier to set up than the original ZHAO. Take your time, read the instruction notecard slowly, and follow every instruction carefully. There are some things that have to be done exactly right, and almost all the people who come to me with "It's not working" have either missed one step in the instructions, or they read it quickly and thought they understood what to do, but they did something wrong.

So, once again - take your time, read it slowly and carefully, and perform each step as you're reading the instructions. Don't read it all, and then do it all, assuming that you'll remember every step - chances are, you won't.
