Okay! I have done my homework (I think) on animations. I have imported several sucessful animations into SL, but I'm having difficulties with av height off the ground. I had an animation in mind that would lift me off the ground a meter or so. I searched the forums, read a tutorial (www.ulrikasheim.org/animation) but I still cannot figure out how to raise the hip height. I also cannot seem to make an animation on my own from scratch, I have to use the 3 frame starter save pose to do it! I have checked and rechecked and double checked my work according to tutorlals and forums searches, and I still cannot solve this problem. Any help on the matter would be appreciated.

Yes, I saw that post. It does not work for me. Either I am a monumental idiot (the most likely case) or I have some setting wrong in poser. Let me repeat: I have done my homework on this subject. Everything I have tried Does Not Work.
things that have not worked: ctrl a position on the first frame, crouched on the second crouched on the first frame, normal on the second normal on first two frames, crouched during the bulk of the anim crouched on the first and second frame, uncrouched during the bulk of the anim thanks for the reply ![]() |

hmm.. so your tryign to hover up in the air quite a bit..
alrightie, in the first frame do the default stand, in the 15th frame do your crouch, sit, whatever it is you want him to do in the air. Now turn of symetry to the legs, grab the Hip, go over and adjust the Y of the hips way up like 3.0.. what looks like a lot of movement in poser doesn't always translate to much in SL. Key frame 30 and put him back in the default stand pose. This should let you see if the guy is moving or not and will give you a nice transition from standing to hovering. Once it's working you can cut it down to just a few frames if you like the instant on animations. |

Remember, the first frame is not actually used in the animation - it is used for the bone positioning reference. Any bones not included in the first frame are ignored (which is why you can have some odd results). The first frame should always be a default T position with the arms out. I am not sure why you are unable to raise the model into the air - if you select their hips in the first frame and drag them downward (with IK turned off on both legs), the net result is the animation will be raised that far off the ground in SL.

What is IK? I knew it must be some setting or something. This still isnt working, but I dont know what IK is ... so, can someone explain? |
