Is there an AO that can override my hands, but not the head when typing?
I have seen this before... somebody is typing but they don't move their arms, but they slightly bobble their head when they type. How can I do that? Is there an AO or script that can do that?

anything that removes the typing animation is basically an AO they all just have different animations that just do not move the arms, or move other parts differently.

Here is a video tutorial on turning off the typing animation... iirc.. the head bobbling is not affected.

You can't override just part of an animation...it's all or nothing. But you can substitute another.

The SE Motion AO's by Marie Sims, have a selectable typing animation override...you can turn the override on or off.

I also wear a gadget called Auto Emote. This will animate your facial expressions and nod your head in response to your text chat. If you say the word "smile" or type a smiley emoticon, for example, your av will smile.

That is completely untrue. You can layer animations and by selectively keeping some joints unlocked, override part of the underlying animation. Many of the items I sell rely on this technique to work. And, this is in fact how the head bobbing but no typing is accomplished.

The stand they are using is animating the arms so they don't type, but the head and neck joints are left open to continue playing their portion of the typing animation. Disabling the typing animation will remove it all.

Darien,

From the animation creator's point of view, you're quite right. But from the consumer's point of view, I am correct. Unless the animation is specifically set up to NOT animate certain joints, a lower-priority animation will not "show through".

type and talk are separate animations (talk is the nodding), and PlayTypingAnim does not turn off talk. However, if you have AO stands that constrain the head and neck, that will prevent the nod no matter how PlayTypingAnim is set,

The OP asked how it's done, so telling her it's not possible is simply wrong. Anyway, now she knows. :)

I took away the typing animation and my head continued to "bobble" or nod. I tried everything to stop my head from nodding because people constantly asked me if I was always that agreeable. I finally just put the typing animation back on.

Well, it's nice to see that your counterpart is taking notice so I wouldn't mind the nodding. :o

Another way to get rid of that is to use a custom standing animation in your AO. This removes the nodding, as long as the had joint is included in the animation. At least it does so in the AO I am using.
