i have Poser 7 + service pack 2.1. on frame 1 i have my avatar in T-pose, then make frame 2 a key frame and pose my avatar with its head tilted to one side. on frame 30 i tilt the head to the other side. when i press play the head tilts in the wrong direction for a few frames and then tilts over to where i set it on frame 30. this happens with other parts of the body aswell

This isn't a bug, it's a feature.
You need to break the spline between frames 1 and 2.

Poser defaults to splinal interpolation - I suggest you change to linear.

No it will always default to splinal in Poser 7 - but if you set all keys to linear right at the start of creating your animation you will have done it once for that animation. Set up frame 2 and open the animation pallate - go right to the top of the frame 2 column and click and select all of the keys for frame 2 and then click the linear button. Then if you want to change to splinal or constant for any particular part you can just set it for those specific keys.
