Hand animations

How would one make an animation that doesn't move the avatar at all, but could be used to force the avatar's hands into a given position, such as fists and the other options you select when uploading an animation.

Or does somebody already have such a set of animations?

I just noticed there are some built-in animations for expressions (express_*), does anybody have some for hands?

Thanks!

Hand position (At this moment...) is defined during upload. Unforetunately right now that feature is not working/working correctly.

Ok, I was mainly curious about how to do an animation that wouldn't move the avatar at all... I think I always either ended up with a cannot initialize motion error when trying to upload or ending up with an animation that makes the avatar pose in that silly default stance rather than not do anything. I realize the hands are specified upon upload, was just wondering how to make an animation that doesn't do anything so it could just be used to make a set of animations to pose the hands that wouldn't affect whatever else you may be doing.

But if the morphs aren't working well anyway, it probably won't work I guess... >_<

From what I've heard (and seen in some animations) they initially go into the morph but then relax? maybe if the animation was reapplied periodically? Though it isn't nice to have to use a timer and more resources for that.

Any idea why it isn't working? been trying to figure out a workaround for it and tried uploading it several different ways, hands unlocked etc...

It used to work, badly, but it worked

Is this another undocumented feature change?

Same happens for me!

Someone go to http://veigrn.com/hover.bvh and save it to desktop and go to File > Upload Animation in SL and choose hover.bvh

Change the parameters to "Priority: 4" "Loop checked" "Hand Pose: Fist" "Ease In: 0.5" "Ease Out: 0.5" then press "play"

Tell me if the fists clench or not (don't click upload)

Hand Animations

Thanks for bringing this problem up. I was worried it was me. I recently made a theater chair that randomly selects from 8 sitting animations and chooses a new one for the next sitter. Good idea, so that the theater don't look strainge by having all the patrons sitting in the same position.

well anyways as you can tell with 8 positions I used my own. One, as an example, sits with one arm on the knee with the hand ib a fist to lean your chin on. The right hand is supposed to be a fist, but instead is splaid out and looks really weird with your fingers up in your face.

I know where to choose the hand position, but I uploaded the animation only to find the final outcome was an open hand.

Glad to know it is an SL error.

I hope once they fix it the character will take on its selected setting and not need reuploading to fix each animation.

This is something that has bugged me as well, having recently made an item that is carried in hand, but the avatar hand is straight out. Any work arounds at all?

I tried to do it so it keeps repeating the hand thing at different intervals, but could never find the right time. (Back when it did work). For some reason, when the hand was already in a fist, it wouldn't take. I spent 3 days tweaking a script to reset the animation at incriments of .01 seconds from 1 second up to 2 min to find a sweet spot. But I never did find it :(

Currently there are no workarounds I've found for the hand thing, which is rather annoying. They've said they are working on it, but who knows what that actually means.

From what I've been told, no one is actually working on fixing morphs. They are working on other things atm. As animations haven't had any of that 'love' thats supposed to be going around LL, I'm not sure what that means.
