Since Qavimator isn't stable on Vista, I'm forced to learn Poser 7. But it's driving me crazy!
I'm trying to make a sitting animation, where the av just slightly moves in his chair now and then, like you would normally do.
But when I use kinematics on legs and arms to rotate the hip (or upper body) some 5 points, and then move it back, SL doesn't import this movement. The av stays still in his chair.
I know that the SL-importer does not import real subtle movements. But 5 points/degrees, that isn't really subtle, is it? It still moves the body a big deal.
I'm beginning to believe that I'm doing something wrong or that the default Poser 7 settings have to be tweaked. I really need some help here, because Poser is bugging me for a week now!

It's a function of both degrees and time; you can pull off a 5 degree rotation if you do it quickly (in the span of just a few frames), or you can do larger movements more slowly. It is annoying, but you just need to keep trying to get a sense of how subtle/slow you can get away with. And remember to use the previewer if you're not already, save those upload lindens!

Oh yes, I'm using the previewer. Strange thing is also that sometimes a subtle move is imported, but not the same movement back. So for example: when the av moves to the left of the chair, let's say 5 degrees in 30 frames, this movement is imported. But when I move the av back in the same animation, and for the same amount of degrees and frames, the back-animation isn't imported.

Any comments on this back and forth issue?

You may want to turn off Inverse Kinematics before you export, then turn back on to work. I have found that sometimes, and I know this shouldn't happen, I'm just relating my personal experience, exporting an animation with IK left on sometimes makes wonky things happen when it gets to SL.
As for the size of movements, I'm still using Poser 4 (because I like it. I haven't rendered a scene or done anything other than SL animations in a LONG long time. I just don't like the controls in any of the others) and recently, for a project that I'm working on, I was moving the av as little as one "click" of the dial, .001. Those came through just fine.
<usual advice> Make sure you have all the different parts moved and "locked off" (i.e. moved just a little bit, so the SL defaults don't kick in), make sure frame 1 is default Tpose, etc, etc.</usual advice>
