I'm trying to get started on animation. Using DAZ. I've got the exporter set up and installed, and made a few basic anims. But I'm running into problems with the interface. Are there any veterans who can give advice?
Firstly, moving frames about. I make two key frames, and then I find that the last one is too close after the first. The resulting animation is too fast and jerky. So how can I move the last frame farther back.
There seems to be no indication of what are set as keyframes in the time bar. Is there any way to enable an indicator to show keyframes in the bar?
Copy/pasting frames. I've tried using the Memorise Figure/Restore Figure. And I cannot for the life of me, work out exactly how it works. Sometimes, it seems to copy the first pose exactly, as I would expect. Other times, it seems to copy a pose from a few frames after the one I chose to copy. And quite often, it seems to do nothing at all When i select restore figure. Can someone please explain this feature in reasonable detail ? And if this feature is not for copying/[asting frames, can someone point me towards how to do that ?
Removing of keyframes. Occasionally, I make a mistake, and accidentally modify one of the interpolated frames between keyframes, thinking that I have a different one selected. Suddenly, that frame seems to become a keyframe, and the animation now interpolates to that. How Can I Make a frame conform to whatever it should be as a result of interpolation between keyframes. And stop BEING a keyframe itself.
Inverse Kinematics. I played with animation in 3DS MAx, and it had a neat little feature whereby you could plant a biped's feet on the ground, and they would hold in place while other body parts moved around. IT was a nice natural way of animating things like knee bends. Can DAZ do this ?
And is there a way to insert empty frames between keyframes, thusly increasing the time between them, and so, smoothness of animation.
That's all my questions for now...
