Hello Everyone-

Let me just start saying that I am new to SL. I have so far figured out how to customize my avatar and create new prims etc.

OK..I have an AO pack that I am happy with. I was able to add some additional gestures like "thank you" etc. I am trying to add gestures that would be more proper to the Victorian era RP....for example;I would like to be able move my hands naturally as I am chatting..(not specific fingers)

I have gone to a few LM for gestures could not find anything that is more of what I am looking for and decided to see if I can create my own or perhaps talk to someone who knows how to create gestures etc.

Any recommendation is greatly appreciated!

You have mentioned three different things here, that are all used differently in SL: Gestures, Animations, and chat animations.

The thing to know about Gestures is that you have to have full permissions on an animation in order to use it in a Gesture. So most purchased animations won't work. You can make your own animations and include them in a gesture, using one of the free programs listed in the FAQ at the top of this board. Gestures can be triggered either through the Gesture menu, with a word typed in chat, or with a keystroke combination.

Most AOs don't have the ability to override the normal SL typing animation. You'll need to get a separate typing override script. You can buy one or search for a free script. I have seen some typing overrides for sale that move the avatar's arms while they are chatting, but I wouldn't call it natural motion. At best, you'll get the same set of motions repeated at random over and over, unrelated to the content of your chat.

Finally, you could write your own script to listen for a particular word and trigger an appropriate animation, similar to a Gesture, but without the restriction on using bought animations.
