available linden animations// are newbies cheated?

a long time ago when the old animation interface was in place pre 1.5 i set up my avatar to do many things in a conversation, ie.. wink, smile, point, stick tongue out, etc.. depending on what i was saying. all responses keyed to certain words i would say.

now it seems the new interface post 1.5 does not allow newer people to smile or stick tongue out at the least.. i think point is missing also.. or maybe i am wrong. several times i have had newer people express interest in having their av be more expressive and frankly i dont know how to do it with the new interface, and when we try to figure it out fail.

my av still has the pre 1.5 expressions, but it seems post 1.5 people cant do as much. is this the case?

They're there, sitting in the library.

If you activate them from there, they don't stay activated.
If you copy them to your inv, then activate them, they work as before.
