I'm a noob at animation issues, so be warned! I'm making a wine decanter and goblets. No problem with that. Everything goes great until I have the goblet in hand. I bought a no-mod/copy/transfer script. There are two gestures: holding the drink and drinking. The problem is that the "holding the drink" part lasts just a moment. My poor avatar drinks like a desperate lush. I'm looking for something more relaxed and gracious. The script itself is no mod, so I can't increase the duration of the hold. I've searched everywhere for an alternative. Help!

The trick from the freebie drinking scripts I've seen is to use the "holding gun" pose and only trigger the drinking animation every few seconds.

Oh, excellent! Thank you! This is a real outside-the box world, isn't it?

Well, I have tracked down some drink animations based on gun scripts. Now my poor avatar looks terrified of the glass in her hand. Sigh. I'm getting the feeling I'm going to have to hire someone to do a decent drinking script.

Unfortunately, that's the default drink animation. To not tild your head back as well, like you were slogging down a shot, you're either going to have to find an animator willing to license(sell) one to you, or make you own animation, place it in the cup, and call it in the scripts. If purely for your own use, you -can- obtain one, from other drinks, if you find the right one, in a freebie box, but if you have any plans on selling, I'd get oen first hand from an animator, or learn to make your own.

A year after starting SL, I'm just about ready to try my hand at simpler animations, the first of which, will be my own drinking animation, to install into the coffee cups in my coffee makers I sell.

Robin Sojourner has a free sipping script and animations in her scripting shack. They might be a better fit, they don't gulp as much.

I have 3 variations of drinking animations which you can try at my shop in Alcis - maybe one of those will fit better.

I believe she made 'em as a replace for dat awful "shot glass" gulp, and may well be a better fit. The price is definitely right.
