Need a mannequin to help test couple animations

I've been making some couple poses and animations, using both Poser and Qavamation (sp). (I use Mac)

That's all fine, but I always need to fine tune things once they're in SL and keep reuploading tinkered versions. And now that I've found the beta grid, I'd rather go there to stop wasting Lindens.

The problem is this: finding a male avatar to sit in and help me work on poses. I've got male friends on SL, but they can't sit still long enough to make this worthwhile - always hopping around to try other poses, or running off to talk to someone, etc. Trying that has turned into one huge frustration. And getting them into the beta grid...forget it.

I need a mannequin to help me, and can't seem to find anything that will do the job.

The other complication is that I use an alt to go to the beta grid, because I've read some horror stories about losing inventory items (and even Lindens), and I don't want to take the chance. I hate to spend big bucks on something, and have to buy it for my alt only if it's non transferable. Maybe that doesn't matter.

What do others do when trying to fine tune couple poses and animations?

Thanks,

Des

The inventory on Aditi is completely separate from the inventory on Agni.

Meaning what, that even if something gets eaten by SL, it will still be there when you get back to the main grid?

I should add that I bought a mannequin awhile back for this purpose; the info on SLX said it was posable, and if it was, I sure couldn't figure it out. I IMed the creator and never heard back.

So I'm hesitant to spend more Lindens until I know it's exactly what I need.

Just add " --multiple" (minus the quotation marks) to the shortcut on the desktop Properties > Target, then you can open two viewers and use your own alt. ;)

Example:
Target: "C:\Program Files\SecondLife 1-20-17\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" --multiple

Note, depending on your system specs, you might need to use an alternate client that uses less memory.

I would guess that people who think they have lost things on Aditi don't understand that inventory is a periodic snapshot from the main grid. Every time a new snapshot is taken the inventory is replaced by the duplicate of the main grid inventory. If you make something on Aditi it won't be there after a new snapshot. That's how it's supposed to work - Aditi is for testing.

I use Mac, but I did try this. I get the same message I got when I tried running SL Client *and* the new Kirsten viewer:

"Second Life is already running"

I'm not sure why, but it's not going to let me run a second viewer. :(

What do other animators do?

hey!

select -> secondlife.app
rightclick -> show package contents
open folder "contents"
open folder "resourses"
open file "arguments.txt"
add "-multiple" without quotas and save
voila - done you can run more viewers side by side now
