Ok either im blind, or something is up, im making an animation that requires me to go in the air a bit, but when I make him go in the air its not the set height I chose, is there a coversion or something i have to follow to get this to work properly?

Select Hip to make it fly a little, you will see X,Y,Z positions, you fix the Y position to what height put your avatar.

If you can't get the right height just by visualizing, try putting in a prop box to give you a sense of proportion.

Also: make sure you set the hip height in the first frame.
