A vehicle? Or worn?

My SL SO wants me to find a way for us to do something very sinple - she wants to sit in my lap when we wander a sim.

Now, Im aware of Rendezvous - but this is a vehicle. We have to not only be able to rez it out, but we can't teleport on it. We have to use it on the sim we can rez it on.

So, im considering pose balls. Ive seen ones for holding hands, flying together ... and sitting on laps. Flying together .. fine, I have to rez them out, but are they a vehicle? Or are they considered 'worn'?

I think I want something 'worn' to allow tp'ing. Can someone guide me in the right direction?

The trouble is, if you wear it, the other avatar cannot sit on it. That's why devices such as the Embrace, Rendevous and all those saddles for avatars and horses are all invisible vehicles.

It's a bit of a hacked, inelegant solution, but at the moment it is the only one that works, unless one doesn't need too wander about much (ala couples dances, which are two separate, synchronized animations)

Saddles are vehicles that set animations.
You could try to wear something that moves you somewhere. but that would bump around alot, be inaccurate and require a lot more communication.

Yes, I see the problem ... thanks guys.

Gee, maybe someone should make a directory of sims where these things work. :/

Welllll... you might try this:

Make an attachment your SO wears, that plays an animation that has them in the "sitting in lap" pose you want to use. It also constantly checks your position, and uses llMoveToTarget to position itself at your location, so it looks like they're sitting in your lap. Yes, there's going to be a bit of lag time between when you move and when they catch up with you, but that's about the best you could do for a non-vehicle attachment solution.

I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid.

That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry...

...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning.
