Hi all,

I'm quite new to Animations so bare with me if this question is stupid.

I've made an animation to hold my avie hands up (will go with a arms restrain).
Everything works perfectly when my av stands but as soon I make it walk, the left arm moves a little back and forth. I need to get this arm still as it will be restrained by the arms restrain.

So, my question : how can I override the movements of the left arm in the walking anim?

Thanks in advance

I hope I understand your question correctly.

The arm is parented to the collar, which is parented to the chest, which is parented to the hip. That means that every movement of the hip, chest, or collar will also move the arm.

To have the arm appear to be still while the rest of the body is moving, you will need to move it in a way to counter the movements of the collar, chest, and hips.

If you use Poser, IK (Inverse Kinetics) can help you with this. If you turn on IK for the left arm, it's like pinning the arm in place. Poser will do those counter calculations for you when you move the rest of the body.

Actually, maybe I misunderstood your question. Were you intending to pose the arm, to keep in in place while using another walk animation (such as the default one)? This may be hard to do.

To properly have the arm animation, may have to do the animation not just for the arm, but for the entire chain to the hip (arm-collar-chest-hip). You'd want to make sure you loop it (if you only put in one second without looping, the animation will last one second while the walk, which does loop, continues). Finally, you have to learn priorities, which I only vaguely understand, but your arm animation will need a higher priority than the walk animation.

You may be better off just coding the whole walk yourself, with the arm restrained, rather than worrying about layering two animations.
