i had poser all set up the way i liked and then they had to give us the sl avatar models. i got the sl avatar in poser by importing a "wavefront OBJ" since the avatar ends in .obj and it looked like it worked. the thing is now in the animation palette where it says "SL_avatar_OBJ" it just lists things like x Scale, y Rotate and such and not individual body parts like it used to. also i can't seem to grab and move individual body parts anymore it's just all or nothing. what did i screw up, how do i unscrew it and what planet were the poser interface designers from?

Yeah, I did exactly the same thing, for exactly the same reason. Didn't read the instructions. There is another file in there with your obj. You can open that file with poser. Don't rename any of your directories either. Leave them what they are in the zip file.

When you unzip the file with the mannequins you'll have a folder called "SL Avatar." You need to copy that folder to "C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5/Runtime/Libraries/Character" The .obj files are for use in other programs, not for Poser

one last question...... should i use the SL_Avatar_Tpose.bvh instead of the default Poser pose? the readme is kinda vague about what it's for and sounds like it's meant for other 3D programs but it looks like it's the default sl pose you sometimes see after a teleport bug. does it matter?

Do I need to take a dif path to open the file or somthing else Well any help with this would be awsome thanks and adios ^^.

first take out "downloads" from the path and try again. you want "C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5/Runtime/Libraries/Character".
second unzip the zip file and copy the "SL Avatar" folder into that location.

Yea, for some reson its not picking up the files the only file it picks up is the SL_skirt.png but every thing else its not doing anything sigh... That path way you said isnt in my poser program files all I have is "Poser 5\Downloads\Runtime\libraies\charter" the other path way only has Curious Labs\Poser 5\Runtime\ "dots, figures, and Geometries" files... But at least the skirt works lolz...

The SL mannequin won't be the figure showing when you create a new scene in Poser. You'll get whatever is set as the default in poser. Once you get the folder in the right place you need to replace the figure in your Poser scene. Open the libraries panel, click on "figures," then click the little down arrow on the upper right of the library panel to open the dropdown list. In the dropdown list go to figures, then SL Avatar. Click the figure that you want to select it, then go to the bottom of the panel and click the button with a single checkmark. That will replace the current figure in your scene with the SL figure. The other button that has two checkmarks will add the selected figure as an additional figure in your scene rather than replacing the one already there. Hope that helps. If you don't have an "SL Avatar" category under figures then you don't have the folder in the right place.
Zuzi, I don't know the answer to your question about the default pose .bvh, sorry.

If I understand you correctly (and I'm not sure I do), your problem is that your avatar model is not showing up in the 'open file' dialog. This seems to happen to me too. To see your file, in the filename textbox type in an asterisk (shift+ in the filename textbox and press enter. This will force the dialog to show all the files, and your poser file will show up. Probably without a correct association. But it will open anyway. Hope that helps.

Ok so far what ive only been able to do is import the OBJ files but all that seems to do is nothing just past it in like an abject and cant move/adjust there postions, and ive sent the SL files/folder into just about every folder that the program I have has in it and it still doesnt show up in the Dropdown list in figures idk why this is but what I'm thinking is that I'm missing some files needed to be in the poser program, its like its not seeing that the files are there in the right folder cuz I know ive checked all the folders that program has, to see if it would read them lolz. The one good thing I should be happy about though is that Ive had no trouble with the animation works in the program so thats good hehe. But anyways thx for the help guys Ill figure it out some how, Peace out and have a good one ^^. Ah and one more thing I was woundering is whats a good site that explanes how to work with the animation creations and Real Face skin creating?
