Losing Audio level when importing .wav

When I develop a .wav in Reason and export it as a .wav 16 bit 44100 it sounds quite loud when I play it over my speakers, but when I upload it to SL I can never seem to get it to have the same audio level. It sounds so muffled and quiet. I have the audio levels peaked in Reason without red-lining, and no matter what script I use in SL, I cant get the same impactful sound in SL.

Any ideas?

In my experience you need to amplify the sound a lot louder before you upload it. But thats just this month who knows what they'll do to the sounds next month. If you find any really old sounds you'll notice theres no way to hear them. Also your distance from the thing making the sound makes a big difference.

Have you checked the sound sliders in Preferences? Maybe you have those turnned too low?

This happened to me yesterday when I imported two sounds I had planned to use in gestures. I created them both in Goldwave as 44100 16bit mono signed after boosting the volume level 200% over the original. When I got them in SL however, they couldn't even be heard out on my deck above the sound of the waves and seagulls. I'd never even know it was playing in a club...

If someone has an idea about this I would really appreciate the help : )
