From: Evangeline Arcadia I want to make a simple pose, not an animation - can someone point me the right direction to doing this. I have Daz Studio, and qavimator. Are these the tools to use? Any tips would be much appreciated Yes, you can use either one. A pose is really an animation that is 2 frames long and starts and ends at the end point. To make one you make the first pose the standard T-Pose that you can download along with the poser AV's. Then you move to frame 2 and create your pose. Everybody part that changes from frame 1 to frame 2 will be frozen in place. Any that are not changed will remain animated by SL. You can check around the forum for more info on that. Export your pose in BVH format and then upload to SL. When you upload your pose you simply set the start and end points at 100% and select looping. That will ensure that it continues to play the last frame only until you stop your pose. Thats about it. You get a preview of the pose when you select upload before you actually upload so thats a good time to check what its doing. Additionally you may want to upload it to the Beta grid instead of the main grid and check it there. The upload won't cost you $10L that way. I upload all of my poses / animations / textures to the beta grid prior to uploading to the main grid as a final quality check. Its saved on the number of uploads I end up doing.

All great advice. The one thing I'll add is that there is a tutorial that comes with Qavimator. You make a simple salute. This might be worth doing. i am sure there are other tutorials on the web. Google around...

Definately read the wiki tutorial for avinimator. Then stand in front of a mirror and watch your body move.
Head - neck Collar bone - shoulder - upper arm - lower arm - hand Chest - pelvis Upper leg - lower leg - foot
Paying close attention to these "pieces" of your body makes creating a pose pretty easy because the hardest part is getting the pose maker program you are using to match what you have in your head. If you dont really know how to sit cross legged then it makes it sort of hard to create a pose using that very flexible dummy in the program.

I'm wondering: are there any scripts for free animations and poses ? I want to make something like a cigar box that the avatar would wear in the palm of his hand - therefore, the arm has to be extended and unmoving. I was wondering if such a simple pose can maybe be found somewhere for free since i dont want to start learning any animation program
Thank you for any help in advance
