Hi,

I'm trying to make up a walk, with a walk animation and a stand animation. In both cases, in order to get the animations to work properly in SL, I had to put a frame at the start of each .BVH file with the character in default position - it seems that SL takes this first frame as the defaults because anything present in it was cancelled out in later frames.

Both the walk and the stand look fine individually. The problem is that when I combine them, with a Franimation AO, standing and walking individually work fine but when the av stops walking, it assumes the standard SL standing position for a fraction of a second before going into the custom stand. I presume (but am not sure) that this is caused by the single frame of the default position at the start of the custom stand animation. I have tried to cancel this out by using the in/out percentages on the animation upload control but it didn't do any good. Can someone tell me how to get around this?

According to this thread, it became a conclusion that lag was a cause.

I thought that, so I tried it by putting other animations into the same AO, in the same sim. They worked fine, so I know there's something wrong with my animations.

And, the end? :D

Um, I hope it isn't the end as I'd like to know a bit more about what is wrong with the animation! Specifically, if you use the "first frame sets the bones" trick to get animations to work, how can you guarantee that that frame will never be played?

Sl doesn't play the first frame. I have a few animations where I have the default stance in frame 1 and a pose in frame 2 and on. If I upload that and loop the entire thing, you never see the default stance.

Mmm. I'm definately seeing the default stance at the changeover point - well, it's not actually the default stance, it's the default stance with the arms in the position from my animation, but the rest of the model and the legs in default position.

Are your ease in and out at .75 seconds?

Also have you changed EVERY body part in frame 2?

The first frame is never played. SL throws it out. End of story. Its just a reference frame that SL needs but in the end never is played. I have been making poses and animations for SL since we were able to upload them. How much more of a guarentee do you need other then our experiences that the first frame is never played?

I would say lag also.. or get another AO. They really aren't perfect.

Why don't you try to change just the first frame, such as spraddling? If you can see that in world, tell us that plz. ;)
