Just looking into using Daz Studio for animations. I was wondering if anyone know how to install the SL mannequins and such into Studio. Does not seem to work the same as Poser judging from the readme notes I got. Thanks for help!

Hey Minh...
Not sure if you have already received an answer to this ![]() 1) Copy the folder into the studio such as: C ![]() or I found a helpful post by RobbyRacoon Olmstead 12/26/06 "I downloaded the standard SL avatar from this page, unzipped it, loaded the male avatar, and saved it as a scene called Default.Daz, which I use as a baseline. To load the avatar, create a new scene, go to File / Import, and browse to and select the SL_Male.cr2 file. You will see this very ugly figure with a yellow head, blue upper body, and green lower body. Personally, I loaded the exact same skin and clothing onto that avatar within Daz so that it looks quite close to my in-world avatar, but that was just for kicks and grins." Good luck! ~Hawke~ |

Also, unless they've fixed it lately (I haven't checked), the default .bvh export isn't quite right for Second Life. As soon as I get a spare moment I'll post a plugin that I wrote to export to an SL-perfect .bvh file.
I'll bookmark this thread as a reminder ![]() _____________________

Well, until I get around to posting mine, there was a thread here on the SL forum from Escort Defarge that had a good Daz|Studio exporter for .bvh files, along with some pretty decent directions on how to install it.
Mine was loosely based on his, anyways, the only real difference being that I had a few sliders to tweak the scaling and a couple of mostly unneeded UI enhancements. _____________________

I recently set up a little illustrated tutorial on bring in the SL Avatars in to DAZ|Studio at the Ninja Crayon Blog. It goes through the setup of folders and also how to put Robin Sojourner's UVs on the avatars...the first step in texture preperation.
http://blogs.digitalmediaonlineinc.com/ninjacrayon/entry/200705061 I'll post some info on working with BVH in Studio as well. Cris |

Oh, good stuff here. I would so much prefer to work in DAZ|Studio than Poser for my animations. I just like the interface better.

Oh, good stuff here. I would so much prefer to work in DAZ|Studio than Poser for my animations. I just like the interface better. I quite agree with you ![]() I wrote a plugin to allow me to retime portions of animations, since that was one of the few features that Poser has that wasn't available in Daz, and a few other plugins besides. Now that I have those, my workflow is much smoother, and I can anything that my meager animation skills allow, so all in all I have to say that I am very happy with Daz. One of these days I intend to make those plugins somewhat more user-friendly and post them for others, but I just haven't gotten around to it. . _____________________

Cris Oh, very cool! That ought to help a lot of people, thank you for that. In fact, lately my wife has been wanting to do a few more anims, but I've been too busy to set Daz up for her on her new machine, I think I will point her at this link ![]() . _____________________
