I don't think you can use it for SL yet. See this thread.

well crap it looks like im not destined to make avatar animations and poses. Im not going to buy that poser, Daz3d wont support BVH files and blender is the most confusing thing I have ever seen. I wish there was a way to get poser for free.

Purplus has Poser 5 for $80US that's cheaper than most Poser 6 out there

Scatman, go to Purplus site and scope th offers they have there, also try Yahoo general search for Poser 5 you might get lucky and find a cheap offer. I found Poser 5 which is supposedly better than 6 at Purplus Software for $80 US, beats the $385 for Poser 6 at the Curious Labs site they dont want you buying Poser 5 when they can gouge you for Poser6. So third party sites are the way to go.

Blender can export to BVH just fine; it's rigging a realistically-moving skeleton that's the real challenge. Check out the forum links in my post at the bottom of this thread for previous discussions on using Blender for SL animations. In short: it's technically possible, but not for the faint of heart.

I did this very thing - hit up Amazon.com and did a search for Poser 5, and ordered it (~80$) on the spot - Purplus shipped it and it arrived a couple of days later. If you do this, make sure to register Poser 5 in accordance with the directions on the box so that you can download the two latest service packs from the manufacturer (the first one fixes some bugs, the second one turns off the bulk of the copy protection so that you can enable the software by simply entering the license key provided in the packaging). Good luck! - Tengu Yamabushi

LOL Scatman? thanks for the suggestion but im only 16 and my mom is not going to pay for it. so I guess im stuck waiting for daz to support bvh or begging someone to do the one animation that i was going to do myself.

You're lucky, you have a PC It's harder to get a cheap sale on Poser for the Mac -- and even harder to have it work 100% on Mac OS X Tiger. After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4, I never managed to play around with a copy of Poser again, and that made me very reluctant to buy it. Ah well.

Gwyneth, When I bought Poser5 when it had been before my knowing SL, It cost over $400. And since Mac OS became 10.4, I couldn't use it at all. So I had to upgrade and get Poser6. And it has still problem but managed to use it. Do you have Poser6? And is it unable for you to use yet?
