Noob questions, I'm workin on a digital (will be a print/board version) graphic novel rendered in SL. It's been so damned long since I made anims that the ice cream man came on horseback. Anyway...

1. Which program would you suggest for just simple still poses, Qavimator or Avimator?

2. What is the priority that won't change/be overridden by the default hand movements etc...1 or 4?

In other words, when I have my character in a pose, I don't want the head to move, or the hands to spead open after a few seconds, like what happens with some anims I have brought in the past. That would be priority #4, right?

Thanks in advance for any help

I love Qavimator, and wouldn't ever use anything else. True, it can be tough sometimes to get a limb to move 'just right', but it's so easy and simple to use that it's worth the momentary hassle.

And, yes, #4 and Loop if you don't want it to end =)

Yes, you need to use Priority 4 and loop it. But you must also move every joint at least one degree in one direction. If you don't, SL will move it for you.

I use QAvimator (free), and U-Poser (in-world but not free.)

So I had this question before and instead of moving every join 1 degree, I moved them 0.1 degree and nothing moved when I uploaded it with Priority 4

I use priority 3 and it's never a problem for any object that sat on (assuming the script turns off any running animations).

3 allows someone to override when they want, for a gesture for example.

3 overrides the typing animation.

For most sits, I leave the head unchanged, so it can move naturally (with the player's mouse).

I suggest avoiding 4 unless you have a specific reason for not using 3. While a 4 does override an AO at first, the AO can pile on another prio-4 anim and still goof you up so it's no guarantee.
