Stopping an animation and starting it right away => borked now.

Hi there

Since the 1.17 update, the items I sell that rely on this technique (stopping an animation and restarting it so it overrides the other ones) does not work well anymore. It seems llStopAnimation is having a built-in delay. Has anyone noticed this, too ? It's absolutely annoying and ruins one of the features I've put in my items.

Thank you !

hm I'm gonna double-check this, because at least one of my items also relies on llStopAnimation for correct functionality.

As a little update, emoters are ruined too, as they rely on that. Now they look kinda funny, opening and clothing the mouth at a fast rate...

Yeah, my typing overrides are essentially emoters combined with a script to detect when you are typing.

I wouldn't exactly say they are ruined, but it is certainly the case that the animation is all stuttery now. Have you reported this bug? I'll vote for it on JIRA.

After some testing it seems that llStartAnimation stops any previous playing animation of the same name (for instance, OpenMouth) *before* starting again. If I remember correctly, it didn't stop the animation but only continued it smoothly. I'd say it's definitely a bug.

Edit : Created a JIRA entry, in SVC > scripts (SVC-318). Not sure if it should be put there but it's definitely script-related and not client side. Please vote !

As a side note, running a business is not possible in these conditions. I'm seriously considering stopping releasing, maintaining and even selling my existing products because SL is making them look buggy. I don't release buggy software, at least I test extensively before. And I mean, months not hours.

A lot of people will be pissed off, but I'm sorry. It's just not possible.

Ditto.

I can't tell if my scripts are working right or not. They are now doing random unexpected things. I think I've got programming probs and can't even tell.

I guess LL doesn't care.

If you don't focus your AV on any object, your whole body will twitch to the front as well, this bug affects more animations than just the facial expressions. Luckily my RePose technique is not affected by this bug (whew!). Thanks for the JIRA, saves me from starting one.

EDIT: There is an other one open https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1217 relating to the body jerk. As these two are probably related, may be good to vote for both. Also I think VWR is a more appropriate category than SVC.

same issue for me: strange delay in "stop and go" animations
+ avatar "slightly jumping"... weird...
