How to use an animation as a (for example) walking style ?

I´ve got following problem:

I wanted to make a japanese Umbrella and wanted to create a walking and a standing animation matching to it.

My question is now: How can i manage it , that the animations i made for this can be the animations for walking and standing ?

I hope i expressed myself more or less clearly.

If you have made an 'umbrella holding stand' and an 'umbrella holding walk' you can use an 'animation override' (AO) attachment that replaces the default stand and walk. So instead of using the default walk animation the AO makes you walk using the 'umbrella holding walk'. There are many free AOs out there.

You could also put the AO script inside your umbrella and basically make your umbrella the AO attachment. There are several shoes that do this.
