Hello all,

I've read through the FAQ post for floating avatars when sitting.. but what about standing. If I keep the hip height the same as the first frame, then the avatar should be standing on the ground no matter the shape of the avatar? am I correct there?

Also, I read that any parts I don't move in frame #2 (after default in 1) will not respond, and will act as default/controlled by other anims?

Correct, keep the hip height the same as frame 1 for standing anims.

For frame 2, each body part must move slightly from its position in frame 1 to "lock" the joints. It only takes 1 degree in any direction, which is not enough to notice in an animation.

okies, thanks! what about if I want the avatar to crouch? I've been looking for information, but still can't find anything reliable.

((I am using qavimator, by the way))

This is dependent on the height/leg length of the avatar and you may have to work by trial and error until you get it right. If anyone has a fullproof way of working out hip displacement accurately, I should be really glad to learn of it.

I usually find I have to move the hip down much further than you would expect - otherwise the legs fold up under the avatar, rather more than the hip moving down towards the ground.

Some animators always work with a "standard" size figure and provide animations that fit that specific size, whilst others make variations for tall or short avatars - unfortunately one size cannot fit all.
