Hi, I am trying to learn to make some basic poses for my modeling/business needs in game. I use DAZ and have seen that you can make SL poses thru there so I have been reading tutorials and trying to get it to work all night. I finally seem to have gotten the basics Dld and hopefully working......but every time I try to test it in its final stages by uploading my pose to SL.....SL crashes.

Am I missing something very obvious or something? >.< I cant for the life of me get my .bvh files to upload in SL. I crash EVERY single time. The files export just fine and save fine.....but will not upload to SL.

I followed this tutorial so you have an idea of what I have DLd....and what I have tried to do but obviously failed hehe:

Can someone please help me and tell me if it is possible to make poses in DAZ a better way? Just how to get poses uploaded into SL without crashing would be great too. TY much!

I have never used DAZ, but it sounds like it is not outoutting the BVH properly. I would suggest loading your BVH file into QAvimator and saving it as a different file name and see wht happens.

If that doesn't help, contact me in-world if you would like me to look at your file. I might can read it and see what is wrong.

I DLd Qavimator this morning and I uploaded my pose there, messed with it a little then resaved it and it did upload to SL. But that leads to my next question. How do I get my character to stop doing her normal stuff in game (random moves/breathing etc) and actually do the full pose? I moved the hips....I set the animation to loop and priority 4. Is there something else I am missing to get her not to move out of the pose while it is running?

Another noob Q if someone can help and it may be the same one or kinda related. I have been trying to read what few threads here I can find about animation problems etc and I have been trying different tips, one being to make sure my avie doesnt have shoes on when she previews the pose in game.

Yet, something is still messing up and Im sure it is a noob mistake lol but I am not sure what exactly that mistake is. My pose looks great in Qavimator. But when I try to upload it/preview it in SL it looks totally different. The arms and legs aren't posed the same or anything. My char pretty much looks like she does in game just standing there lol. How do I fix that? And get my poses to preview and upload into game properly?

Make sure you move every joint at least one degree. If you do not, SL will assume you do not care about that joint and use the last know animation for that joint.

Just go ahead and move every joint in frame 2 of your pose and you will be fine. Frame 1 is used by SL as a reference and is never actually seen in SL.

I did that, every single joint has been moved at least .1. But it is still not showing up properly in SL when I try to preview. I am still messing with it now hoping that by some dumb luck I will get it working lol but so far no such luck.

Well if the preview is not showing your animation correctly it's got to be something in the bvh file. So you have a pose and when you look at it in qavimator it has only two frames right? The first frame should just be the basic t-pose and the second frame should be your pose. And on that pose all the joints are moved at least a degree. Check that the hips are moved. That's the one that makes you really move around quite a bit if you don't lock it down. Then when you upload you set it to priority 4 right?

Chipping in:
Make sure you're using the most recent viewer and don't forget to check 'loop' in the upload dialog (even though it is a static pose).

Also: my first frame is not the T-pose, but one which I have twisted all joints (except the hip) to 180 deg. Ugly but works.

For posing, Qavimator is unbeatable.

Peace.

I never thought about doing that. I will give that a try. I've made over 200 poses, and I still occasionally forget a joint.
