I've just started Secondlife, and I would like to know wether I can give animations to anything besides avatars. Such as animals. Also, if it is possible, how would I do this? Would I have to create a new skeleton for the animal?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's not possible to get a set of objects to play back a bvh animation if that's what u mean. AFAIK the only way to animate objects is by manipulating each prim individually using a series of scripted positioning/rotation functions.

There is a prim animation kit available here - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Schell/222/147/251Basically, its a set of scripts that "records" as you rotate and resize prims. You tell it when to capture a prims' state (when to record "frames" . When your all done, it makes this recording available on touch. I haven't actually tried it out myself, but the demos are very impressive. You might also want to search the Scripting Tips forum for Prim BVH. I apologize, but I don't have time to find the exact thread right now. It's a script by a guy named Gomez. You copy the text part of a BVH into a notecard and this script parses it and rezzes joints. I'm not sure how it works. I havent tried that one out yet either. Good Luck. Blackthorne

that is the one thing that "There" the game has over SL. The animated dogs are the only thing i can remember but their animation was so much more fluid then anything i've seen that isnt an AV in SL.
