I have some great ideas for animations that I can't find in world and I've had little or no luck hiring. Plus some of my ideas are hard to translate into words. So I did some OT and now I have some extra money, should I buy Poser?
Am I asking for a lot of trouble or is the learning curve relatively easy? I've downloaded Blender as someone suggested here, but it looks complicated.
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks.

I sprung for the US$200 and bought Poser 5 back when custom animations were released this last summer (was it summer, or spring? can't remember now). I have played with Poser some and have figured out how to create and upload animations... but I find the manipulations of the Poser figure (that you use to create animations frame by frame) to be awkward and difficult to use. I invariably seemed to wind up with the Poser figure having arms twisted around several times and legs sticking out at impossible angles when I tried to move other parts of the body. It really takes some practice to perfect. I have kind of lost interest in perfecting my mastery of Poser for the time being. I find making textures still to be much more rewarding. But, I can also see the value in being able to pose my avatar in just the way I want. And... it's still easier to me than scripting!

I don't know if you should buy Poser, but if you do, Amazon has a good deal on it $169 new.

Sure... it's cheaper than Photoshop and is pretty useful. The learning curve is relatively easy except for the GUI. Can't think of a better 3D animation studio for a beginner.

You can also buy Poser Artist for around $90. It creates animations for SL just fine.

I made the mistake of buying Poser 5 when I had an excess of disposable cash back in August. Unless you're serious about making animations, there's absolutely no need to waste the money. As others have pointed out, Poser Artist is a much cheaper alternative if you just dabble. I wish I would have known about it when I bought Poser 5.

I have a brand new - only out of the box Poser 5 which I would be happy to sell to anyone. Please PM me here, or IM in game.
Thank-ya.

They've gone up to $109, but still affordable. Thanks for everyone who responded. Oh Merwan, I would love to get your copy but I was hoping to have it for a train trip Sunday night.

lilone and I bought Poser right after custom animations came out. We don't do anything with it, other than create SL animations, but its worth the price if you're interested in doing that sort of thing.
Look around the web, and you might be able to find some deals... Espeically on Poser 4, which is just as good as 5, as far as SL animations go.

Yes, you can use Poser Artist to create the same SL things as Poser 5 (at half the price!).
