The Windows version of Avimator has been updated to 0.4.1 and fixes a lot of the keyframing issues (Mac OS X and Linux updates are coming in the next few days).

Here are the changes/bug fixes:

* Keyframes are now saved as part of the BVH file (thanks to Lex Neva for the patch). This will fix a lot of the problems people were having with loading previously saved files. (NOTE: This modified BVH format is still readable by the SL uploader, but you may have problems loading the file in Poser and other BVH editors).
* Parts are now highlighted green if they are keyframed
* CTRL+double-click on a part will toggle whether or not it is a keyframe
* There is now an option to loop animation playback (in the Options menu) (thanks to Lex Neva for the patch)
* The default pose is now the T-Pose (again)

Download the new version at http://avimator.com.

A Problem
07-13-2006 09:43
Downloaded Avimator 0.4.1 for Windows, installation went normal but when I attempt to start Avimator I get the following error:

//
C:\Program Files\Avimator\Avimator.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
//

Reinstalled Avimator, the event still occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. I'll put up a new installer tonight that should fix this problem.

Looks like Mike beat me to it :) Not only is the new Windows installer up, but the OS X version as well (as a DMG file). I'll try to get to the linux version tomorrow.

Please let me know if anyone runs into major problems (like if the program doesn't run or crashes very badly).

Thanks!

Thanks much Vince and Mike. DL'd the new .exe and all is well. Almost. Not a show stopper but Avimator isn't unloading it's process when terminated. If you then try to crankup JASC Paint Shop Pro 9 after using Avimator it just sits there on "starting up" forever. Going into task manager and killing the Avimator process allows PSP to finish initializing and works as normal.

Oops. I compiled this latest version on an Intel Mac. I thought I made a universal binary, but I must have screwed it up (I'm still learning :) ) Until I can figure out how to do it right, I'll just put up two different versions (PowerPC and Intel)

Danae, I've tried to reproduce the problem you are seeing on two different machines, but can't get it to happen. Did you make sure to click on the "Do you want to save your animation?" dialog that pops up when you exit the app? I can't think of what else might cause the program to not terminate, but I'll keep looking.

Okay, I put up a new version of Avimator 0.4.1 for OS X. This is my first shot at building a Universal Binary so it may not work (I don't have a PowerPC machine to test it on). Seagel or Troy (or anyone with a PowerPC), please let me know if it works for you...thanks

Hmmm. Almost sure I did Vince but I couldn't swear to it. I'll try not clicking it and see if I get the same result. Will let you know :)

Thank you, Vince. I made sure that it worked. :) I'll report it in your forum more.
